Iranian cinema theaters will be hosting film fans and offering discounts during the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan (starting on May 27).

Iranian cinema theaters will be hosting film fans and offering discounts during the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan (starting on May 27).

The spokesman of the Guild Council for Public Screenings, Gholamreza Faraji, said that more details about the screening program of Ramadan will be announced in the coming days, local media reported.

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting. People abstain from eating and drinking during this month’s daylight hours.

The Iran Cinema Organization, Society of Iranian Cinema Halls Owners and the Guild Council for Public Screenings have organized a program titled ‘From Iftar Till Dawn’ allowing fans to watch movies from Iftar (sunset) till dawn.

Seemingly, this year’s Ramadan will witness screenings of current films, since they are doing very well at the box-office.

Currently, there are 10 movies on screen on different genres, including comedy, social drama, political thriller, war and for children.
